Ram Jethmalani accusing Arun Jaitley

So now the phenomenon called Ram Jethmalani has struck again. This time he has attached senior BJP leader and Prime Ministerial candidate for many, Arun Jaitley, accusing him of “never speaking about Congress corruption” and being hands in glove with Vadra and Sonia ji. These accusations are being sensationalized by some people.

I wonder what is the exposure that he is making? That Jaitley never speaks Congress’s corruption? How vague an accusation? Of course Jaitley has taken many press conferences and has hit at Cong very hard, several times. If Jethmalani has stopped reading newspapers because of poor eyesight due to age, he is recommended from most recent “Arun Jaitley slams UPA, calls it a ‘Cash and Carry’ govt” http://news.oneindia.in/2013/05/04/arun-jaitley-slams-upa-calls-it-a-cash-and-carry-govt-1209286.html and a few more: http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/NewDelhi/Jaitley-hits-out-at-Digvijaya-backs-SC-on-CBI/Article1-1060206.aspx ; http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/NewDelhi/Jaitley-hits-out-at-Digvijaya-backs-SC-on-CBI/Article1-1060206.aspx just for sample. I think Jethmalani is trying too hard now; he had lost his mind that he brought his expulsion and now he will lose his respect.

Someone asked “If Jethmalani is not correct; do you really believe that BJP is not corrupt?” I think the point is not who is not corrupt – the courts decide it; we don’t. The point is that we people believe any mud-throwing as if it is sent from the heavens and we are earning Punya by believing in all accusations. Look at this accusation; how hilarious it is? The accusation, “He never speaks of Congress corruption” is so false, to put it bluntly. Jethmalani is on a rampage and is losing his mind by making such vague and false accusations.
I had witnessed a TV debate where Dr. Swamy and Mahesh Jethmalani (Ram’s son) were there and Mahesh was not respectful towards Dr. Swamy (Dr. Swamy had asked him: what (newspaper) do you read then? Dubai Times?) Mahesh had resigned in November as a pressure tactics from Jethmalani and Sons.

Now when we criticize Jethmalani, we do not question his earlier accomplishments. Even Cong wallas would agree that for BJP it is not the time for internal bickering but it is time to put up a united front on the eve of elections. This is what makes us question Jethmalani’s tactics. Last time RamJ was caught abusing Lord Ram publicly (asking why he left Sita; which is mentioned in some fictitious texts). I think the problem with Jethmalani is that he suffers from arrogance, pride and ego – which originated because of his earlier successes. It is like full circle for him – he came to India from Pakistan, married another woman while keeping earlier wife, earned huge success in his trade and respect of the masses, and then he is losing away all. His case is like Ravana’s who had all knowledge but lost all because of his pride and ego. It is not unusual for extremely talented people to waste life like this when they grow old. We call it “sathiyana” in Hindi.

Arjuna Ranatunga is Fossil; Should not Ridicule IPL and India

“Ridiculing the Indian Premier League for turning cricketers into a bunch of avaricious people, World Cup winning Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga today said that the cash-rich T20 league has given Indian cricket nothing but disrepute.” mentions Indian Express.

Arjuna Ranatunga’s case is surely of a sour-grapes one. Since he is outside the IPL event, he can afford to, or even amused to criticize it. The fact is that Spot-fixing and IPL are not related phenomena. All sorts of corruption and fixing dates much back from the year IPL started. We have seen enough of fixing scandals in many world events and Cricket tournaments before and IPL’s fixing exposure in the current season is only a small part of it. Therefore people like Arjuna Ranatunga who have become outdated like fossil in world cricket should not speak in the kind of language Ranatunga has used.

He says further, “I don’t understand that what is the need of such a league. What has Indian cricket gained from it. It is spoiling players. I don’t remember any world class player produced from IPL. India will not get Tendulkars, Dravids or Gavaskars from IPL. BCCI’s domestic structure is good enough to produce good cricketers, so what is the need of this league,” Ranatunga said.

If Arjuna does not understand the need of IPL then he should rather spend his time trying to understand it than going top guns and talking nonsense. Is he a prophet to predict that India will not get new great players from IPL? Even in his above mentioned rant, it could be understood that he is looking at IPL as a kind of domestic event in India, completely ignoring the fact that IPL is rather an international event which involves so many international players including Sri Lankan players. Instead of praying to India to stop such a successful and entertaining format of the game, Ranatunga should rather beg his fellow Sri Lankan players not to participate in IPL. How will that be? But intellectually bankrupt that Ranatunga has become (perhaps fossils are not expected to have intellect?), he won’t understand.

All of Ranatunga’s rant can be associated with world of sports, Cricket game in general, or the T20 format. But he targets IPL and India very unfairly. It should be hoped that our media and the press stops giving time and space to such irrelevant and outdated individuals like Ranatunga.

Stop the Hype: Terminate CSK contract and Rajiv Shukla’s mail lists Gurunath as team owner

A colleague sent this email:

From: …

Sent: Saturday, May 25, 2013 1:04 AM

Subject: Terminate CSK contract

(bcc intentional)

As per rule 11.3 clause C of the BCCI-IPL constitution, a franchise can be terminated with immediate effect by written notice if “the Franchisee, any Franchisee Group Company and/or any Owner acts in any way which has a material adverse effect upon the reputation or standing of the League, BCCI-IPL, BCCI, the Franchisee, the Team (or any other team in the League) and/or the game of cricket.”

With the arrest of Gurunath Meiyappan, CEO of CSK, CSK should be scrapped.

Use the power of social media, get these cheaters scrapped.

Put as much pressure as you can to get CSK scrapped.

Contribute to clean the Indian Cricket.

These are criminals and not gentlemen.

Take this message forward.

Indian Cricket needs your support.

Regards

I replied to him:

I think “arrest” by itself does not prove anyone guilty. Otherwise starting from Mahatma Gandhi to present day’s Anna Hazare and Medha Patekar and all would be considered guilty. Many of us think that this tirade against Srinivasan and CSK is politically motivated. Therefore there is no question of we demanding ban on any team. Ideally any activist should have been demanding a ban on RR team, if any team had to be banned.

Secondly, this clause is a vague one. So if any franchise causes an adverse effect on reputation of any other team; should its contract be terminated? Suppose Mukesh Ambanis says, “Mumbai Indian is the best team in IPL and no one can defeat it.” This statement can be claimed to be harming the reputation of a team like DD team as it is putting question mark on its competence (saying it can’ defeat MI). So we very well understand such fictitious allegations and politics of seeking bans based on vague clauses in the fine-print.

In his reply, he forwards an email from Rajiv Shukla which shows one of the email receipients to have email ID similar to the name of Gurunath Meiyappan. In fact he forwarded an article from Times of India, titled “Rajiv Shukla’s mail lists Gurunath as team owner”.

I sent below reply to him:

It can be a type error. I want to send an email to my project group members and by mistake include your email ID also. That does not become a proof that you were in my team as a member. This is all media hype – the need to cook up things to raise TRP.

He replies again and this time sends me a scanned copy of access/ ID Card of IPL showing Gurunath’s photo and “Owner” written in big letters. Same picture of ID card is also being aired on so many TV Channels.

Then I send below reply to him:

See, all it can mean is that he was using some of the privileges meant for the owners. It is very much possible in case of “deputies”.  The photo ID only tells that the authorities issued him a gate pass which was meant for owners. Why did they do so? They can only answer. Only on the basis of such evidences we can’t say he was the owner. If you ask me what is the proof needed for me (or people like me) to get convinced that he was the owner. Show me the contract between team and BCCI – did he sign there as owner? Did he sign some bank cheques as owner? Media is only bringing out such small petty evidences. It is like showing a train ticket in my name as a proof that I visited a place. Anyone can book a railway ticket in my name! A piece of paper or a card or an email sent (where is Gurunath’s reply to Rajiv Shukla’s email?) these are only to add fuel to the mess to sustain a media generated hype.

After this, my friend gives up the argument and never replies back on this thread :)

Karnataka’s new CM

Karnataka’s new CM Mr Siddaramaiah has sworn in and announces what?

(1) One-time loan waiver for SCs and STs: Rs. 349 Crore; for OBCs: Rs. 514.26 Crore and for religious Minorities: Rs. 362 Crore.

(2) Decision not to allow ban on cow slaughter in the state and a bill passed by BJP govt preventing cow slaughter would be reversed.

(3) Financial help to religious orgs which was done by BJP govt would be stopped.

Now newspaper says Siddaramaiah is a self-declared atheist and he took oath in the name of ‘truth’ than any God. But report also says he began the day with prayers to goddess Chamundeswari and he said, “I prayed for blessings from the deity, for good showers, grains, prosperity and harmony in the state.” I do not understand how could even anyone kill cows and yet bring showers and grains; worship goddess Durga and discriminate people on the basis of caste and religion, and yet claim to be an atheist?

Congratulations Karnataka for Assembly Election Results

Congratulations Karnataka for doing a very honest Performance Appraisal of the outgoing BJP Govt. I know your choices were limited and I am very happy that you have elected Cong. rather than any regional party (almost all regional parties are anti-national and corrupt). Though the fact remains that on the date of polling, BJP was the only party which was not corrupt (no corruption charges in the months after Yeddyurappa and his team exited), but trust deficit could be understood. Since you threw out a govt which was plagued by corruption charges (apart from Governor HR Bhardwaj’s tactics), the new govt sure is to understand what you want – development and corruption free governance. Keep it up!

For the BJP, it often said that we have to lose battles in order to win the war! The party purposefully sacrificed the state in order to remain taint-free. Let us now see if during General Elections, the party is able to make this point to all, and it is highly likely that during General Elections you will keep this practice of throwing out corrupt govts!
