Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is Anti India and Pro-China and It Can be Understood Easily

Nepali Communist Govt is getting involved in a land dispute with India, claiming some Indian land as its own.

Prime Minister K P Oli on Tuesday reiterated that the Kalapani-Limpiadhura-Lipulek area in the trijunction of Nepal-India and China (Tibet) will be brought back within Nepal's map at any cost.

Oli hit out at India's stance on the border dispute as well as a comment by Indian army chief Manoj Navarane that a protest in Nepal against India — after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh e-inaugurated a road meant to connect Mansarovar via Lipulek — may have taken place at "someone's behest". "Everything we do is self-guided”, Oli said.

Oli also responded to an allegation that Chinese ambassador Hou Yanqi had aided him in saving his chair when he faced a visible revolt in his party earlier this month. "Some say a foreign ambassador saved me from falling... it's a government elected by the people of Nepal, and no one can throw me out,” he said.

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is a member of Nepal Communist Party (NCP). Communist party and all communists side with China. In this regard, there is no surprise that Mr. Oli is saying things which China would be happy at, and doing things which China would be happy to see him doing.

China is India's enemy. China is also a land-grabber which has grabbed lands of most of its neighbors, be it the country of Tibet, India or Pakistan. Nepali communists are no fools that they won't know these simple facts. If Nepali Communist PM Oli wants to make India as its enemy while being friends with Communist China, people of Nepal should wake up and see his designs.

People of Nepal must understand what Nepali Communist Party is doing and show their power during elections.

Govt Pushes Reforms Unrelated to Coronavirus Crisis

The BJP government has announced a major opening up of defence production, power, space and coal and mining sectors for private participation. News reference: TOI

  1. The government has decided to increase the FDI limit for defence production under the automatic route to 74%, from the current 49%.
  2. The government also decided to push privatisation of power distribution companies after a gap of over a decade and said discoms in Union Territories will be privatised
  3. In the space sector, the government for the first time announced its intent to allow the private sector to be a co-partner in future planetary exploration and outer space travel initiatives such as Chandrayaan and Mars mission.
  4. Govt has also opened up 500 coal mining blocks through open auction process.

First of all, these announcements have nothing to do with the current Coronavirus crisis. Therefore it was not necessary to announce it while our country is already fighting Coronavirus crisis and we are not sure what our country's future will look like. I think it is not good to take far-reaching policy decisions during uncertain times.

Is it that govt has done these decisions under pressure of some foreign countries which have big private companies in these sectors? Or is it that govt is purely attracting foreign capital? For example, if we look at space sector, India has zero "local" private companies with such a capability. Therefore, opening this sector for private companies essentially means that this sector has been opened up for the benefit of foreign companies.

At the moment, it seems that govt is trying to attract foreign capital with these policies. But these policies are not expected to do any real benefit now, since global companies would also not take investment decisions during these uncertain times. Therefore, the "timing" part of these decisions are always doubtful.

As a policy, I support the idea to open up sectors for private operations since it will lead to overall rapid progress, development and also mass employment generation. This will also reduce corruption which is prevalent in government organizations. But I am against opening all sectors to foreign companies and govt should open up sectors for 100% FDI only in limited sectors and in a gradual manner.

Why I think Swadeshi Push and Atmanirbhar Bharat Will be Largely Ineffective in Addressing the Problem

India is facing many crises today. One of the crises is that most of the great Indian companies are either being shutdown or being sold out to foreign firms. And it is not about profitability of business or value creation. Even innovative companies get sold and stakes in even large profitable companies get sold. The problem is serious and reflective of the problems our "economy" is facing. Be it Flipkart which got sold, or all Anil Ambani businesses which failed to take off, Jet Airways or any other airlines which shut down, or even Reliance Industries needing to sell stake in its profitable Jio business to reduce debt, the list is long.

In the middle of the economic disaster of Lockdown and economy at near bottom, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new slogan of "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India) and asked people to buy "Swadeshi". The great fan followers of PM Modi have lapped up the idea and started spreading the message. But many fans do not understand that the "version of Swadeshi" our Govt is promoting will by and large do not do any benefit to our economy. It is because in our Govt's version of "Swadeshi", even foreign companies' India units are treated at par with Indian companies.

Therefore, except Chinese toys, there won't be much impact of Swadeshi push because most foreign companies are already manufacturing in India. Most of the items consumed in our household are already made in India. And I bet people will still buy Chinese phones, no matter what PM Modi or our govt says.

How many people are reading this and tweeting #atmanirbharbharat using their Chinese phones? Indians are cost conscious and have little real pride of their motherland. Remember, many Indians still take pride that their ancestors served in colonial era British army. Most Indians traveled or wanted to travel abroad for honeymoons after marriage - that is also how many brought Coronavirus to India and poor people are dying. If given a choice, most Indians will go settle down abroad. Just look at parents whose kids are settled abroad. Raising slogans is easy.

And Govt gets the share of blame too. After every big scheme launch from Govt, huge orders go to China. E.g. after International Yoga day was conceptualized, millions of yoga mats were bought from China. After Coronavirus outbreak too, testing kits were bought from China. Govt should first practice "Swadeshi" itself before preaching it to common people.

As per our govt, buying a Toyota car, Unilever or P&G products are all "Swadeshi". One-by-one, all our Indian companies are getting sold out and our govt's version of "Swadeshi" will not stop it.

There is a good decision made by Govt that tenders below Rs 200 Crores won't be allowed to be global tenders. But this too is expected to be little impact since most of the MNCs which have India units will still take part in these tenders and can outbid Indian rivals.

If our government is really serious about "Swadeshi", it should adopt it in its true and real version, not in this pseudo version where Indian units of Foreign companies are also treated at par with Indian companies.

Maharashtra Train Accident: Not Correct To Blame Govt But If We Do Blame, Congress Gets It More

There has been a tragic accident in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, where 14 migrant workers have been run over by a goods train. The group of workers were traveling from Maharashtra to Madhya Pradesh by walking on the railway track. They were sleeping on the railway track in the darkness of night, when a goods train came. As per the news report, the driver of the train tried to apply the breaks but could not halt it before it hit the people. 14 people have died and several injured.

Congress Party leaders have blamed Modi government for this:

Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari even accused Modi govt with treating people like "human fodder".

First of all, this was a tragic accident due to human mistake. The workers had violated the Lockdown and were trying to leave on their own. Then the migrant workers were sleeping in the darkness of night over a railway track! The accident happened early morning at 5 am. We can't blame "government" or the Railways for this situation. Sleeping on railway track like this was plain foolishness. Even God can't save people all the time people do such foolishness.

If Congress Party leaders want to "blame" Modi government for this, then first it should look within. This accident happened in Maharashtra which is ruled by Con Party too in an alliance. Is it that Con Party is trying to hide the rotten state of affairs in Maharashtra by accusing Modi Sarkar?

Why were these migrant workers forced to leave Maharashtra? Why were these migrant workers allowed to violate "Lockdown"?

We had seen such problems before when a large number of people gathered near Kurla station on the rumors of special trains to take them to home states. Maharashtra state government failed to prevent the gathering as well as dispelling them quickly. State government does get some blame if migrants are fleeing the state in this manner, violating the lock down.

The migrants getting killed in this accident is a sorry news. But if Con Party wants to do politics over it, then it is in rough pitch itself.

Maharashtra: High Proportion of Minority Patients in a Secular State

This news is from today's Financial Express:

Of the 548 deaths recorded in Maharashtra as of May 3, 239 (44%) are from the minority Muslim community— almost thrice their share (just under 12%) in the state population. As per FE, the data analysis was done by Indian Express newspaper.

The above data tells the following points:

A lot of these cases would be connected with Tablighi Jamat whose members were all Muslims. Since the Muslim attendees of Islamic conference were the first source of Corona virus, they would naturally have spread it more among fellow Muslims.

Since Maharashtra is being ruled by pro-minority political parties including Con/NCP, the state government would not be acting harsh against incidents of lockdown-violations and people not following social distancing. The police may not be acting against these people since they know that govt does not want to trouble these people much. This would have come as a setback for the community.

The above reminds me of a theory. As per this theory, minorities are more safe and better-off during a Rightist government rule. For example, there used to be lot of communal riots during Con Party rule but not much in the BJP rule. Why? It is so because the "rightist" parties are aware of their "impression" and take extra care not to harm their image any further. On the other hand, a Leftist party in rule would take minorities "for granted" since they know that minorities would vote for them "no matter what".

Because of this reason, the Rightist parties may run a government which would be better for minorities.

I hope the minorities of Maharashtra give it a thought if they are really better off now.

History of Goa: What was Goa before Portuguese came?

What was Goa before Portuguese came? Did Portuguese develop Goa as the major trading hubs? And If So, Why they failed to expand and let Dutch and English run the show in the Indian Ocean(IO), what role does Jesuits Played? Read about Goa's history <Gaud Saraswat Brahmins-18th C.>
Aryans in the form of GSB reached here when they cut themselves off from their group near Saraswati River, as they compromised their vegetarian Dharm by eating fish to tide over a 12-year famine. Place where Ram spent time during his exile days <We have a Cabo de Rama Fort>

Goa's excellent waterways made it a strategic post. Hindu and Muslim dynasties battled for long. Sea Ventures soon spotted it, Sumerians called it Gubi. Persians & Arabs also came. Muslim rulers decided to make the port the centre for Haj. Kadamba ruler made Gopakapattana.

Kadambas were of impeccable pedigree, ~decent from a 3-eyed, 4-armed warrior that came from the sweat of the god Shiva under a Kadamba tree. Under them, ships sailed up to the African and Arabian coasts. Cotton goods, diamonds, precious stones & spices were exported from here.

Arabs were the ruling power of Indian Ocean. Hindu ruler of Vijayanagar used Goa’s port was for the Arab horses for wars. Soon they lost Goa to Bijapur. And, Ella near Mandovi was now the Muslim-dominated capital of Goa. Adil Shah laid the template for 'Golden Goa'.

Back to Europe, a new aristocracy arose in Portugal (~12th C.), rewarded for their roles during the Reconquista <Christian re-conquest in the Muslim kingdoms>. Prince Henry, the Navigator, had produced improved types of Ships <Caravels: swift & light>in his, shipyard by 14th C.

The caravel was used for his Atlantic ventures. And, by Christmas 1497 Vasco da Gama used it for the first European expedition in IO < financed by the Portuguese crown>. He rounded the Cape of Good Hope – Africa’s southern tip – and reached the Indian port of Calicut in 1498.

By 1510 Portuguese defeat Adil Shah to establish a colony in Goa, and make it as the capital of their Estado da Índia (Indian Ocean empire). Trade was organised by the Carreira da India. It was the first European Company to trade with Asia, and served as a model for the later.
Soon they were the connector between India, China and Europe. It was their trader who will introduce Tea in Europe. They introduce and named Orange and Mango and brought Potato and Chilli in India. Pao and many more.

Expansion of trade brought adventurers and fortune hunters from various parts of Europe to Goan shores. Plus crusading character of the earliest Portuguese overseas campaigns meant that they attracted religiously motivated foreign volunteers.

Soon they started their religious drive: Muslim <spread of Islam had horrified their missionaries as they felt it is impossible to convert them> and their Masjid been destroyed. Persecuted large numbers of Syrian Christians in Malabar and Hindus in Goa <trying to convert them>

1542 a new dimension was added with Francis Xavier ('Goencho Saib'), a Jesuit <schoolmasters of Europe> priest. He had been sent by the Catholic Church in Rome to train & employ native clergy to help with further missions to convert the native populace.
Once Marathas were once very close to capture part of Goa, all the Portuguese viceroy could think of: drag out relic of FX and Pray. But, it did work for them and Maratha dashed off to combat a sudden attack from Aurangzeb (FX = Legend). In 1961, this was done again <in-vain>!!

They will also destroy Mahalsa's older temple. Mahalasa = Mohini avatar of lord Vishnu. Most of the idol were buried under the Paddy field in Devar Island and Ponda.

Anyways, Goa was going through it’s commercial prosperity: ’Golden Goa’. Profits from the entrepot trade had made it to rivalled Lisbon. Goa get the oldest hospital in Asia and was also fortified. But by 1588 English defeated Spanish and Portuguese Armada. Soon Dutch also emerged

Soon they lost to Ottoman navy also. All this made them to Just Focus on Goa. misadventures in the Bay of Bengal also played no small part in it. English and the Dutch East India Companies had entrenched themselves on the western IO. Gave away Bombay

Thus by 17th C. they have lost Jaffna, Malacca, Mangalore, Quilon, Cochin and Bombay to the Calvinist Dutch and Protestant British. And Mahim to Marathas. Part of all this was their religious drive, same reason why they were in India.
Dutch & English were the traders first and territorial rulers next. Force was to play only a very carefully calculated role in their overall strategy. EIC developed Surat as a cosmopolitan port (Hindu Baniyas, Parsees, Jains, GSB). End Goal =maximisation of commercial profits.
Till 16th, their army in India was hardly sophisticated, with no real ‘regiments’ of foot soldiers. It was volunteers or degredados – with a fidalgo, <little training, no uniforms and no standardized weaponry>. Unit would disband in Monsoon & soldiers were often left to beg.
Portuguese almost got bankrupt by corruption, by the Inquisition and intermittent epidemics. When invaded by Napoleon army, Portuguese monarch had to fled Brazil in 1808 and EIC occupied Goa to counter, the Napoleonic onward march to Asia.
Goa’s fortunes changed with the declining influence of the Estado da India , but it remained a port connecting the Portuguese communities at both ends of the Portuguese network of commerce. (Xerafim or ashrafi was their silver currency)
Today, you will still find Goan raving about the old Golden Goa while ignoring that Catholic as state religion only ceased in 1910 with the establishment of Republic of Portugal. Banned in the mid-17th century, the Goan's own language, Konkam, was never the language of power.

Yet their legacy in architecture, music and way of life in Goa is unique, the more so because it is concentrated in a small community living in a territory which is tiny when compared with the rest of India.

Handwara Terror Attack and Encounter

An Indian army colonel, a major and two soldiers, along with a Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police sub-inspector, were killed in a counter-terrorist operation in the valley. Two terrorists including a Pakistani terrorist were killed.

The following were martyred:
  • Colonel Ashutosh Sharma
  • Major Anuj Sood
  • Naik Rajesh
  • Lance Naik Dinesh
  • J&K Sub-inspector Shakeel Qazi
There are touching stories coming up in the media about Col. Ashutosh and Major Sood. Major Sood had got married just a few months back.

This is an outrageous act and our government must use our full force against Pakistan to stop such attacks. Govt should stop peacetime distractions like inducting women in Army or diluting Army's real meaning by getting it involved in miscellaneous tasks. Get the real job done!

Among the terrorists, there was a Pakistani terrorist too. Indian Army should tie his body in front of a Jeep and drive it till Islamabad. Flatten whatever comes on the way!

Hail Indian Army!
