Global ratings agency Standard and Poor's on Thursday affirmed India's sovereign rating at 'BBB-' with stable outlook, saying the country's GDP growth is likely to gradually recover towards longer-term trend rates over the next two to three years.

It expects the economic growth rate to improve to 6 per cent during 2020-21, 7 per cent in the next fiscal and 7.4 per cent thereafter.


GitHub announced that it is opening a subsidiary in India called GitHub India Private Limited. The company said the country has a third-largest number if active developer community on GitHub following the US and China.

World’s leading IT companies such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, and Infosys were born in India. So there’s no dearth of developers in the country. Last year, a report from the Economic Times, suggested India can have the largest developer population in the world by 2024.


Vedantu,  a Bangalore-based startup that operates a learning app aimed at students aged between 12 to 18, has secured an additional $24 million as part of its Series C financing round. With the infusion of cash, Vedantu looks to serve more students and make its brand a household name.


American Airlines will become the first airline  to offer nonstop flights between the United States and Bangalore, India, in October, from Seattle. 

It's all part of an expanded partnership with Alaska Airlines announced Thursday, where the airlines will feed each other passengers and offer travelers reciprocal frequent flyer benefits to lure more passengers.


India’s IT industry created more jobs in 2019 than a year ago

The nearly $200 billion Indian IT services industry created over 200,000 new jobs in 2019, up from 180,000 a year ago, industry body Nasscom said yesterday (Feb. 12). The sector now has a total workforce of 4.36 million. 


Capgemini will hire 12,000 to 15,000 students from Indian campuses this year, recruits who will join the firm in 2021. The company hired a similar number last year.

India, with 1.2 lakh employees, accounts for more than half of the French IT services company's global strength, and is the largest delivery engine for the firm.

Tata Motors has won a tender from Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to supply its Tigor Electric Vehicles (EVs) to state power distribution company Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (UGVCL).

As per the deal, the company will deploy Tigor EVs in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad cities in the state of Gujarat. The first batch of Tata Tigor EVs was flagged off today by Saurabhbhai Patel, Minister of Energy, and Mahesh Singh, Managing Director of UGVCL along with dignitaries from the two companies.
